90-day non-immigrant B visa.
The most common visa for foreigners entering Thailand for work or business purposes is the 90-day non-immigrant visa. The visa must be used within 90 days from the date of issue and, as the name suggests, it grants its holder a period of 90-day stay inside Thailand. Once the validity is over, it can be extended for seven additional days.
Holders of the temporary 90-day non-immigrant visa usually use the visa to enter the country, apply for a work permit and once the validity of the visa is over, they can convert it into a long-term solution, for example, one-year non-immigrant business visa, one-year business visa extension or others. This process takes place in Thailand and doesn’t require the applicant to leave the country.
Eligibility and requirements
It is important to note that not all nationals of all countries are eligible for this type of visa. In general, it is readily available for citizens or permanent residents of the following countries:
- Other European countries
Nationals of other countries are encouraged to enquire at their embassies to confirm their eligibility.
90-day non-immigrant visa has to be applied for outside of Thailand, most commonly in the applicant’s country. The general requirements for this type of visa are as follows:
- A valid passport (the expiration date must be more than six months when entering Thailand)
- An invitation or confirmation letter issued by the concerned organisation or entity (e.g., employer, educational institution, etc.)
- Additional supporting documents as requested by the Thai Embassy
- Proof of financial funds and travel itinerary
- Embassy fee
